Who will be India's flag bearers at the opening ceremony of Paris Olympics 2024?

The 2024 Paris Olympics is just two days away, with the Games set to get underway on 26 July. A total of 10,500 athletes from 206 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) are expected to compete in the Olympics that will run till 11 August. Out of these, 117 of these participating athletes will be from India, that includes 70 men and 47 women.

The Paris Olympics opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Seine river in Paris, and the event promises to be a spectacular one in many ways. Having said that, the opening ceremony of the upcoming Olympics will be a unique one. This will be the first-ever time when an opening ceremony does not take place inside a stadium. The nations’ parade will be held along the Seine river, with the athletes travelling on boats.

Flag bearers have played a significant part in opening and closing ceremonies of an edition of the Olympics. Till date, there have been a total of 18 flag bearers for India at the Olympics. Boxer MC Mary Kom and hockey player Manpreet Singh were India’s flag bearers at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago.

Indian table tennis legend Achanta Sharath Kamal and two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu will be India’s flag bearers at the 2024 Paris Olympics. India’s athletes will don a special ceremonial dress at the opening ceremony. The dress is designed by fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani, the co-owner of Tasva which is owned by Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail group.
