Manchester City will not celebrate their FA Cup triumph; Pep Guardiola explains why: 'The club said to me...'

Manchester City players have been strictly directed to not celebrate their FA Cup victory after they defeated Chelsea on Sunday to win the title. However, head coach Pep Guardiola has made it clear that there is no time to celebrate for the team as they have their sights set on the Premier League title.

Guardiola's men had already won the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup is now the second trophy for City this season. Antoine Semenyo scored the only goal of the match as City rode on his brilliant backheel to lift the title thanks to a 1-0 win at the Wembley Stadium.

'Not even one beer'

After the match, Guardiola was asked about the celebrations but he was very clear that there was no time for any such thing.

"Not even one beer. No, no, no - not have time [to celebrate]," Guardiola told reporters after the victory. "Chelsea had seven days to prepare for the final; we had three days, and yesterday was a nightmare. We spent literally six hours from the city to here. The trains are a little bit of a problem in this country. Six hours!"

City will have to quickly shift their focus on the Premier League title race where they are two points behind leaders Arsenal with a couple of matches remaining for both the sides. Arsenal host already-relegated Burnley in their penultimate league game while City will take on Bournemouth.

On the final day, City will face a tough challenge against Aston Villa and Arsenal will visit Crystal Palace. Guardiola's men have to win both the matches and hope for Arsenal to draw at least one of theirs. Only then can City reclaim the Premier League title.

Despite a steep challenge in front of him, Guardiola is looking forward for a celebratory parade in Manchester.

“Next Monday after Aston Villa, we’re going to celebrate it with the women’s team. The club said that to me [with] some parade in Manchester because we must celebrate with both teams,” Guardiola said.
