Khalid Jamil indicates more foreign stars could be following Ryan Williams’ footsteps in representing India: Report
Khalid Jamil, the head coach of Indian senior men's football team, has said that he is closely tracking three players who could follow Ryan Williams' footsteps.

Three more foreign players are being tracked closely and could soon represent the Indian team, head coach Khalid Jamil has revealed. Australia's Ryan Williams switched from Australia to India late last year and now dons the Blue Tigers' jersey.
Williams made his India debut against Hong Kong in the AFC Asian Cup final round qualifiers. The 32-year-old struck within five minutes and helped India gain their only win of the campaign. Jamil says that similar players are being tracked who could be available to play for India and create a healthy competition for places in the side.
'Good sign' for Indian football
Sunil Chhetri's retirement has led to a big hole in India's forward line and that could be one of the priority areas for India to look into. However, Jamil did not reveal any details about the three players he said were being tracked to bring into the Indian team
“Once we make these additions, there will be healthy competition for places,” Jamil told The Times of India on Saturday. “Williams has definitely opened the door for others. It’s a good sign.”
“I want to have a good look. Players will be selected only if we are convinced that the team will be strengthened. We are looking at players based on positions that we want to strengthen. There are three players. We are waiting for documents,” he said.
Jamil hinted that at least one of the players being discussed will be included among the probables later this year. “I have watched his matches and already given the go ahead. He is playing abroad and will be called here (to join the camp),” the Indian head coach said.
Jamil did reveal that goalkeeper Som Kumar is in his list. “Som has played in India and (now) in Slovenia. Yes, he is in my list,” said Jamil.
