Bayern Munich won 4-1 against Atalanta and progressed 10-2 on aggregate. They will face Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals. Madrid defeated Manchester City 5-1 on aggregate in the Round of 16.
Newcastle, who had secured a 1-1 draw in the first leg, started the second tie spiritedly, scoring twice in the first half through Anthony Elanga, who helped cancel goals from Raphinha and Marc Bernal, but a Lamine Yamal penalty at the stroke of half-time gave Barca a 3-2 lead.
Barcelona killed the game in the second half with a brace from Robert Lewandowski and goals from Raphinha and Fermin Lopez.
"The first half was really tough and the third for us helped us a lot. At half-time, we said that the solution was to play on the front foot and play our game. We did that in the second half and I am very happy," Barca coach Hansi Flick said after the match.
On Barcelona's chances of winning the Champions League, Flick said: "This is the Champions League and there are no easy games. We have to take it one step at a time."
