Champions League prediction: Opta supercomputer predicts Bayern vs Real, Arsenal vs Sporting

Bayern Munich and Arsenal are favourites to reach the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals as they get ready for their second leg on Wednesday. Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid have already qualified for the semi-finals of the UCL, while Liverpool and Barcelona were knocked out in the last eight stage.

Arsenal face Sporting CP in the second leg, having won the first leg 1-0 away from home, while Bayern defeated Real 2-1 in the first game. Naturally, Arsenal and Munich have an edge going into the quarter-final second leg.

What will happen in Bayern vs Real Madrid?

Bayern have a strong record. They have taken the lead after the first leg on 23 occasions in the Champions League and progressed to the next round 22 times. The only time they were knocked out after winning the first leg was in 2010-11 against Inter Milan.

According to the Opta Supercomputer, Bayern Munich have a solid 56.9% chance of winning the second leg at the Allianz Arena. Real Madrid appear to have 22.8% chance of winning. A 1-0 or 2-1 win for Real will force the match into a penalty shootout, while a 2-0 win will see them directly qualify for the semi-finals.

Overall, Bayern have a 83.7% chance of reaching the semi-finals according to the Supercomputer, which says that there's a 30.2% chance the German club will also win the Champions League.

What will happen in Arsenal vs Sporting CP?

Arsenal are also the favourites to win against Sporting CP in the second leg. The Gunners have been handed a 61.9% of winning the second leg, which would easily propel them into the semi-final.

There are higher chances of a draw rather than a Sporting win, claims the Opta Supercomputer. The Portuguese club has a 16.5% chance of winning the second leg. The possibility of a draw stands at 21.6%.
