Casemiro opens up on 'big problem' at Man United as he prepares to leave: 'Deserves to stay'

Casemiro, who is set to leave Manchester United at the end of this season, has publicly backed Michael Carrick to take over as the permanent manager after the former England star's mid-season entry worked wonders for the club. Carrick was given the job on an interim basis after the club sacked Ruben Amorim early in the year.

Since taking over, Carrick has led United to 12 victories from 17 matches and helped the side secure a Champions League ticket. The Red Devils are third in the Premier League table with two matches remaining. Carrick is only supposed to be at the helm of the club till the end of the season and Casemiro feels his impressive performance has created a problem for the Red Devils.

United face a 'big problem'

Casemiro believes Carrick deserves to stay on as manager beause he has earned it by improving the team.

“It’s a big problem. Because he deserves to stay, he deserves to stay," the Brazillian said on Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel.

“The team plays very good. He will win any games. The team improves day by day. Game by game the team improves. So for me it’s a big problem, because in my opinion, he deserved this opportunity.”

“He deserves the opportunity, because the team is very comfortable. The team plays very good. We have big wins, big ones. So for me he deserved this opportunity.”

Casemiro also compared Carrick to former Real Madrid manager and current Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti.

"For me he plays at this level. He knows what the players' feelings are. Ancelotti, he is a big manager because he understands. He played. He knows what the players need to listen to, and he pushes, but he knows the time to push.

"For me, the best thing is he knows about the club. He understands the club. So for me he deserves it. Absolutely, in my opinion, he should stay."
