Brazil will be hoping to collect their first win of the 2026 FIFA World Cup when they return to action on Friday. The five-time world champions began quest for a record-extending sixth world title on a relatively underwhelming note, having been held to a 1-1 draw by Morocco in their tournament opener at the New York/New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford near New York City last Saturday.

Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr (32') scored a sensational equaliser shortly after half-hour mark, 11 minutes after Ismael Saibari (21') put the Atlas Lions in the lead. Brazil, however, could not breach the Moroccan defence for the remainder of the game, and had to contend themselves with collecting a solitary point at the start of their campaign.

The big news ahead of Friday's clash is that veteran forward Neymar, who is featuring in his fourth and possibly final FIFA World Cup, has been ruled out of Brazil's Group C clash against Haiti as he is yet to be declared fully fit.

"He will remain in New Jersey to optimize the final phase of his recovery process, making use of the excellent facilities at The Ridge hotel and the Columbia Park training center," the Brazilian football federation (CBF) had said ahead of the match.

The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star, who has been out of action for more than a month due to a calf injury, isn't likely to feature in Brazil's final group match either, with the team's medical staff hoping he recovers in time for the knockouts.
