Spark by Hilton opens in India: How the young brand is redefining value hospitality at scale for Hilton
As domestic travel rewrites the rules of Indian hospitality, Spark by Hilton makes its India and Asia Pacific debut with two of the country’s most compelling markets: Bengaluru and Goa.

India is entering a defining era in travel, unprecedented in both scale and evolution. At the heart of this shift is a confident, middle-income traveller who prioritises quality, consistency and trusted brands.
They are ready to spend more on a better experience but remain firmly value conscious. For many, Spark by Hilton offers something new: the opportunity to enjoy the reliability and recognition of a global hospitality brand at an accessible price point.
This is the sweet spot that the global hospitality brand, Hilton, identified when it signed a strategic agreement for 150 Spark by Hilton hotels in India in 2024. Eighteen months on, the first two Spark by Hilton hotels opened in Bengaluru and Goa, marking Hilton’s 15th brand in Asia Pacific and 6th trading brand in South Asia.
Spark by Hilton is purpose-built to close a very specific and rapidly expanding gap in the Indian market: the space between budget stays and higher-priced, full-service hotels.
What makes Spark by Hilton special is that it is designed for today’s value-driven traveller, bringing together the essentials that matter most: a comfortable stay, a wholesome breakfast, thoughtful touches, dependable service and an experience guests can trust, all at an accessible price point.
As travel demand continues to evolve across Asia Pacific, these new hotels will address the tremendous opportunity in markets where demand for simplicity, quality and value without compromise runs high. With its India opening, the new brand adds a powerful growth engine in one of the world’s most dynamic travel markets, opening new opportunities for owners and team members and bringing Hilton’s trusted hospitality standards to even more guests. Let’s understand why the numbers match the moment too.
India's travel economy is being reshaped by a powerful combination of rising disposable incomes, expanding aviation networks and improving road infrastructure. Zooming in on consumers, the World Economic Forum (WEF) projects that nearly 93 per cent of India's urban consumer growth is expected to come from outside its five largest metros, giving rise to an estimated 500 new "consumer cities" on the back of expanding middle-class incomes. The WEF also projects this cohort will account for 93 per cent of all spending by 2036, up from 80 per cent in 2026.
And these statistics make a strong case for the opening of midscale brands like Spark by Hilton. The rise of value-conscious, middle-income travellers is driving higher returns in midscale and economy segments. Investors are prioritising brands that balance affordability with consistency.
The whole ecosystem responds to this level of growth fuelled by brands like Spark by Hilton. These brands, in markets that were previously unviable for greenfield development, are now attractive via conversion-friendly, asset-light models, enabling faster scale with lower capex and reduced risk.
A global brand finds its moment in India
Spark by Hilton’s debut in India with two properties in Bengaluru and Goa not only marks the brand’s arrival in the country but also its first entry into the Asia Pacific region. The move underscores India’s growing significance in the global travel and hospitality ecosystem.
Spark by Hilton has rapidly emerged as one of the most successful new entrants in global hospitality, pioneering what Hilton describes as the “premium economy” segment.
Positioned above traditional budget-oriented offerings, Spark by Hilton delivers the reliability of a global brand, thoughtfully designed essentials and dependable quality at an accessible price point, creating a new category for today’s value-conscious traveller. Combined with a highly scalable, conversion-friendly model, this positioning has fuelled remarkable growth.

Launched in 2023, the brand surpassed 100 open hotels within just 18 months, making it the fastest launch-to-open brand in Hilton’s history, and has since expanded to over 240 operating hotels worldwide with a robust pipeline of nearly 230 additional properties globally across markets like Canada, the UK, Mexico and the Middle East. Its success is rooted in its ability to address a clear market gap: delivering reliable quality stays at an accessible price point, appealing to value-driven travellers while offering owners a low-cost pathway into Hilton’s renowned commercial ecosystem. Together, these factors position Spark by Hilton as a category-defining brand representing the global mid-market landscape.
Why Bengaluru and Goa mark the beginning
The choice of the launch markets is more deliberate than it might initially appear.
Spark by Hilton Bengaluru Marathahalli Outer Ring Road is in the heart of one of the city’s pulsating tech and commercial corridors, a stretch that hosts a steady inflow of corporate travellers from across the country and internationally. This 82-room hotel provides a high-quality option for corporate travellers from across the world who travel to this IT hub.

Meanwhile, the 64-key Spark by Hilton Goa Calangute is at the very centre of one of India’s most popular leisure destinations. Goa continues to attract a diverse mix of holidaymakers, and the property’s location provides the perfect base to explore Goa’s leisure spots and globally acclaimed coastline.

Together, the two properties cover both ends of the demand spectrum, corporate and leisure, giving the brand early operational learnings across the two most important travel markets in India.
Adapted for the Indian traveller
The brand’s India-specific offerings include a self-service chai cart and signature DIY dosa stations, small yet deliberate touches that signal genuine familiarity with how Indians travel and eat.
The hotels in India will include a gym and in-room dining at select locations. Guests will also have the convenience of vending machines stocked with essentials like snacks and chargers. Each of these experiences has been thoughtfully designed to deliver greater ease at every touchpoint.

Technology will be a key enabler of the brand experience in India. Other technology-enabled features for a seamless experience include digital check-in, Digital Key, service request support and Hilton Honors App integrations.
A brand built for scale, and India is the big bet
Clearly, this is one of the most remarkable brand stories for Hilton. The pace of growth, in just three years since its launch, reflects both the appetite for quality mid-market products and Hilton’s franchise-friendly, asset-light model.
India remains central to the next phase of that story. The launches in Bengaluru and Goa are among the first 10 hotels that make up Hilton’s strategic agreement with Olive Hospitality, which will ultimately bring 150 Spark by Hilton hotels across India. The pipeline covers both business and leisure corridors, including Hyderabad, Jaipur, Mathura, Pune and Rajkot, underscoring Hilton’s strategy to deepen its presence beyond metros.

“The modern Indian traveller is evolving rapidly, with guests increasingly seeking branded stays that deliver quality, convenience and consistency. Spark by Hilton addresses that need directly, and our partnership with Olive Hospitality gives us the platform to move at the pace this market deserves.
With these first two openings, we are introducing a product that resonates strongly with today’s value-driven traveller while maintaining Hilton’s trusted service standards,” said Zubin Saxena, senior vice-president & regional head, South Asia, Hilton.
The bigger picture
Spark by Hilton's India debut is about more than the launch of two new hotels. It reflects a larger shift underway across the country's hospitality landscape. As travel becomes more frequent, more diverse and increasingly dispersed across emerging business and leisure markets, travellers are looking for accommodation that balances affordability with consistency, convenience and the assurance of a trusted brand.
For hotel operators, this presents one of the most significant growth opportunities in the sector today. For travellers, it signals something equally important: a growing range of stay options designed around how they actually travel, offering quality and reliability without compromising on value.
As India's travel story continues to evolve beyond its traditional gateways, Spark by Hilton is well positioned to meet the needs of this new generation of travellers. By making Hilton's trusted hospitality more accessible than ever, the brand is helping redefine what value hospitality can look like in one of the world's fastest-growing travel markets.
