Matty Healy marries Gabbriette Bechtel in intimate Los Angeles wedding

Matty Healy is officially married. The 37-year-old frontman of British band The 1975 tied the knot with model and musician Gabbriette Bechtel in an intimate ceremony in Los Angeles over the weekend.

Representatives for the couple confirmed that Healy and Bechtel exchanged vows during a private celebration attended by close family and friends. Multiple US media outlets reported that the ceremony took place at Castillo del Lago, the historic Spanish Colonial Revival mansion once owned by Madonna.

The couple, who announced their engagement in June 2024, have largely kept their relationship away from the spotlight despite intense public interest.

From whirlwind romance to marriage

Healy and Bechtel first sparked dating rumours in 2023, just months after the musician's brief, widely publicised relationship with Taylor Swift. Swift's fans have long speculated that parts of her 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department were inspired by their short-lived romance.

Healy and Bechtel confirmed their engagement in June 2024 when the model posted a photo on Instagram wearing a striking black diamond engagement ring. She jokingly captioned the post, "Marrying The 1975 is very brat," referencing the cultural phenomenon surrounding Charli XCX's Brat era.

Healy's mother, television personality Denise Welch, later confirmed the engagement during a podcast appearance.

A private celebration with famous friends

While the newlyweds have not publicly shared official wedding photographs, videos and guest images circulating on social media offered glimpses of the celebrations.

According to reports, several musicians and close friends attended the ceremony, including Charli XCX, whose husband George Daniel is Healy's longtime bandmate in The 1975.

Ahead of the wedding, fans also shared videos reportedly showing Healy celebrating his stag party alongside tribute band The 9075. Bechtel, meanwhile, documented parts of her Las Vegas bachelorette celebrations on social media, including appearances with burlesque performer **Dita Von Teese>.

What's next for The 1975 frontman?

The wedding comes during a relatively quiet period for The 1975. After headlining Glastonbury in 2025, the band announced an indefinite hiatus from live performances. Their most recent studio album, Being Funny in a Foreign Language, was released in 2022.

While Healy remains one of British music's most recognisable frontmen and Bechtel continues to balance modelling and music, the pair have consistently chosen to keep much of their personal lives private, a decision reflected in their low-key wedding celebration.
