Avengers: Doomsday trailer divides fans over CGI as Ramayana comparisons flood social media

The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has sparked a heated online debate, with many fans praising the scale of Marvel's next blockbuster while others question whether its visual effects are ready for release.

Soon after the trailer premiered, social media filled with posts criticising what viewers described as uneven CGI in several key sequences. Fans pointed to moments where green-screen work, lighting and character compositing appeared unfinished, with some arguing that the visuals lacked the polished look usually associated with an Avengers film. Others felt the trailer didn't reflect the production's reported blockbuster budget, calling the effects underwhelming for one of Marvel's biggest releases in years.

The criticism wasn't universal. Many fans came to the trailer's defence, reminding viewers that blockbuster visual effects are often completed right up until release. Several pointed out that Marvel has previously released trailers containing unfinished CGI, only for those scenes to look noticeably better in the final theatrical version. With the film still months away from hitting cinemas, they argued there is plenty of time for the effects to be refined.

The conversation soon expanded beyond Marvel. In India, many moviegoers began comparing the trailer with the recently unveiled first glimpse of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. Social media users praised the Indian epic's visual presentation, with several claiming it looked richer and more convincing despite far less footage being released. Others argued that Indian films are often subjected to harsher scrutiny than Hollywood productions, saying audiences should judge both industries by the same standards.

Not everyone agreed with the comparisons. Some users noted that Ramayana has marketed its visual effects as one of the film's biggest attractions, naturally inviting closer examination. Others felt it was too early to compare the two projects based solely on promotional footage.

Even as the CGI debate continues, excitement for Avengers: Doomsday remains sky-high. Premium-format screenings reportedly sold out rapidly after advance tickets went on sale, with box office trackers noting that early demand has already outpaced several recent Marvel releases in some markets.\
