Mumbai: Heroin worth Rs 40 crore seized at airport

Mumbai: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has recovered 8 kg of heroin from Mumbai airport and arrested two foreigners. The seized drugs cost nearly ₹ 40 crore in the international market.According to DRI Customs, their officials took two foreign nationals into custody after drugs worth ₹ 40 crore was recovered from them at Mumbai Airport on Sunday.They had received inputs that two passengers were about to arrive in Mumbai to smuggle drugs. Thereafter, the accused were taken into custody and interrogated.Later, the officers checked their luggage and found two packets of white powder each weighing 4 kg, which was later found to be heroin.Earlier on 21 November, the Narcotics Control Bureau busted an international drug trafficking network after a South African woman was apprehended with 2 kg of cocaine "meticulously disguised" in her shoes and luggage at Mumbai airport.After admitting that she was supposed to receive the heroin shipment and distribute it throughout the city, a second lady was detained. The bust was conducted after intelligence gathering by NCB-Mumbai regarding a shipment of drugs being smuggled into Mumbai by a global syndicate.They discovered 2 kg of "fine quality cocaine" in eight packets of various sizes that were stowed away in two pairs of shoes and two purses.Read all the Latest News, Trending News, Cricket News, Bollywood News,India News and Entertainment News here.
