IPL 2024: James Franklin replaces Dale Steyn as SRH pace bowling coach
James Franklin has previously coached Durham in English county cricket and was the assistant coach of Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday announced James Franklin as their new pace bowling coach ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, replacing Dale Steyn, who will be missing this season due to personal reasons.
"Dale Steyn will not be joining us this season due to personal reasons and James Franklin will be the Pace Bowling Coach for this season.
“Welcome on board, James!," SRH posted on their 'X' account.
As far as his IPL career is concerned, Franklin has represented Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2011 and 2012. The former New Zealand all-rounder has played 20 matches for MI and scored 327 runs while also taking nine wickets. This will be his first coaching stint in the IPL.
Franklin has previously coached Durham in English county cricket and was the assistant coach of Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Franklin will team up with fellow former Kiwi Daniel Vettori, who was named the head coach of SRH following IPL 2023. SRH endured a disappointing IPL campaign in 2023, finishing tenth out of 10 teams with just eight points. Earlier on Monday, Pat Cummins was named their skipper. SRH begin their IPL 2024 campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens on 23 March.
