Watch: Imad Wasim smokes inside dressing room during PSL 2024 final

Former Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim was seen smoking in the dressing room during the Pakistan Super League 2024 final. The final of the T20 franchise tournament was played at the Karachi National Stadium on Monday, March 18. In the first innings of the game, Imad Wasim picked up a five-wicket haul for Islamabad United against the Multan Sultans, after which he went back to the dressing room for a well-earned break. During the 18th over of the first innings, the stadium cameras pointed towards the all-rounder where he could be seen having a smoke while seated inside the dressing room. The clip was uploaded by a fan on X who wrote, “Imad Wasim smoking in the dressing room after taking 5fer”.

Imad Wasim tormented Multan Sultans in the first innings of the game, dismissing the likes of Yasir Khan, David Willey, Johnson Charles, Khushdil Shah and Chris Jordan. His early impact and skipper Shadab Khan’s additional three wickets in the game kept the Sultans humble as they found themselves at 127/9 in the 17th over. Usman Khan had the best performance for the batting side as he added 57 runs in just 40 balls. Next, it was Iftikhar Ahmed who tried to rescue the innings for the Sultans as he added 32 runs in 20 balls to help his side reach a respectable 159 runs.

The second half began with New Zealand cricket star Martin Guptill leading the chase for Islamabad United. He scored a 32-ball 50 to give Islamabad a rock-solid start before being run out by Iftikhar Ahmed. Things started to look dire in the 18th over when Faheem Ashraf was dismissed by Iftikhar to put Islamabad at 129/7. However, an unbeaten 19-run knock from Imad Wasim in the last few overs helped seal the PSL trophy for Islamabad. Wasim even won the Player of the Match award for his heroics in the ultimate game.

This isn’t the first time that a cricketer has been found smoking in the dressing room. During an international match back in 2022, Afghanistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Shahzad was seen smoking. He was later reprimanded by the match officials for his actions. In a more recent case, Australia’s star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was spotted smoking an e-cigarette in the dressing room during the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup.
