Watch: Doctor Who trailer has some familiar elements but leaves questions unanswered

The trailer of the tenth season of British sci-fi drama TV series Doctor Who was released on 13 March, 2017, and it gives us a glimpse of the places and time periods the Doctor will be exploring this season.[caption id="attachment_3335940" align="alignnone" width="825"] Youtube screengrab[/caption]In the trailer, he describes his time-travelling spaceship TARDIS as "the gateway to everything that ever was, or ever can be". There is a dash of humour; when his companion Bill enters TARDIS, she is wide-eyed. "It's like a..." she begins to describe. "Spaceship!" the Doctor exclaims. "A kitchen!" replies Bill.Apart from these two characters, we also see shots of Nardole, who is the Doctor's companion, Ice Warriors, Daleks and a robot that speaks in emojis. The places that are featured in the trailer are Mars, Egypt (as is evident from the shot of the pyramids), England in 1814 and outer space, among others.There's also a sense of trouble and danger in this Doctor Who trailer, expressed through lines such as "This is naughty," and "So how do we stay out of trouble?"It also leaves several questions unanswered. What is Nardole staring at? Who is the landlord and why is he holding a tuning fork? Who is the wooden creature peeping from behind the door?While several aspects of this trailer are a mystery, what it does promise are rich plots where the Doctor has much to do. As he puts it, "Something's coming, Bill. I have the feeling we're going to be very busy."This season of Doctor Who is written by Steven Moffat, who has also written the popular series Sherlock. The role of the Doctor is currently essayed by Peter Capaldi. This season also stars Matt Lucas and Pearl Mackie in the lead roles.Doctor Who's season 10 airs on 15 April, 2017.
