Pratyusha Banerjee suicide: Boyfriend Rahul Raj charged with abetment, assault

The police filed a 1,000 page chargesheet in the Pratyusha Banerjee charging Pratyusha's boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh with abetment, assault and intimidation.

On Wednesday, 20 July, the Mumbai police filed a 1,000 page chargesheet in the Pratyusha Banerjee suicide case in the Borivali court. Pratyusha's boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh, who is currently out on anticipatory bail, has been charged with abetment, assault and intimidation.[caption id="attachment_2729332" align="alignleft" width="380"]A file photo of Pratyusha Banerjee with Rahul Raj Singh. Image from IBNlive[/caption]The chargesheet, filed by Bangur Nagar Police, relies mostly on recordings of phone conversations between Rahul and Pratyusha, apart from witness statements, Pratyusha's IT returns, bank statements, a loan agreement, forensic findings and hospital records.Among the statements of 45 witnesses are the versions by Rahul's alleged ex-girlfriend Saloni Sharma, actor Kamya Punjabi, Pratyusha's family and her friend Leena Dias.Rahul was present at the court hearing to personally receive the chargesheet and the court has asked him to attend the 30 July hearing.Television actor Pratyusha Banerjee, who became a household name after her show Balika Vadhu, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at the home she shared with Rahul in Mumbai, on 1 April.
