Goodbye: Abhishekh Khan on working with Amitabh Bachchan, Arun Bali passing away and more

After a long-time, Bollywood gave us one of the best family entertainers in the form of Goodbye, which turned out to be a treat for the audience. Apart from Amitabh Bachchan, Neena Gupta and Rashmika Mandanna’s amazing performances, newcomer Abhishekh Khan’s meaty character of Nakul won the hearts of the audience. In an exclusive conversation with Firstpost, the talented actor opens up about his experience of sharing screen space with Amitabh Bachchan and more.Excerpts from the interview:Despite having limited screen time, you made your role memorable with your impeccable act.Thank you so much. This is more like a relief. I was very nervous since the time I completed the dubbing for the film. But the amount of love coming my way right now is beautiful. I'm very happy with how Nakul has been received by the audiences. Thankful to everyone who's watching the film in the theatres & also connecting with it.So, you really went bald for this scene?Yes. I did go bald for the film. It felt important in every way! And I also believe that you can't cheat the audience when it comes to making them feel something personal. Goodbye is a film majorly about grieving and I wanted to make my character a little memorable, not just for the audience but also for myself. So I went ahead & spoke to Vikas sir & he was very much happy about it. So yeah!Reactions from your family after watching the film…Reactions are amazing from the family & friends. We did catch the first-day first show at PVR Juhu. I didn't allow any of my family members to the screening, because I myself wanted to see my work before anyone.  After the screening, I was in a better space & much more confident to show it to my family.  My mother got very emotional to see me on screen, she has seen all the hardships & struggles I have gone through since years & now she's more than happy to tell people about me & my work. And where I come from, all of this means a lot. To be able to share screen with the biggest star of our country is & will always be the biggest achievement of my life.  All of this really matters a lot to me. Now cheers to learning & unlearning in the journey ahead.Since the film has such an impeccable star cast, were there any intimidating experiences while performing with them?I wasn't intimidated by anyone while performing a scene, as we all were working together to create something. A scene works well when everyone involved in it look & sound beautiful.More than intimidation, you can say I was starstruck by Amitabh sir. But again, he was so kind & easy to approach. He was very much involved in a scene I had with him & I'm very thankful to sir. Also, immense support came from Vikas sir. He was very supportive throughout & got the best out of me. He is easily one of the finest I have worked with. I'm thankful & grateful to him for giving me Nakul. Goodbye is special & so is Nakul.Any actors or directors on your wishlist?There are a lot of actors & a lot of directors I want to work with. But there's one specific person who holds a very special place in my heart i.e Kamal (Hassan) sir.  All my learnings come from his films. Kamal sir is an institution when it comes to acting & much more. I'm so glad he's back to doing films. And then there’s Aamir (Khan) sir that I really love, really adore. I feel there's some connection I have with both of them. These are the two people that I really wish to work with or atleast meet them in this lifetime.  When it comes to directors, the list is long. But I really wish to work with Abhishek Chaubey, Shoojit Sircar, Shakun Batra & Pa Ranjith.Arun Bali passes awayIt’s sad that Arun Bali sahab has passed away. As far as I know, he couldn't watch the film.The very last scene of the film had me laying my head on his lap. So the news of him passing away didn't go really well with the whole cast & crew.
