Diljit Dosanjh addressed fans after skipping the trailer launch of his upcoming film Main Vaapas Aaunga in Mumbai, putting speculation around his absence to rest with a pre-recorded video message.

The trailer launch for Main Vaapas Aaunga took place in Mumbai on May 19 and was attended by director Imtiaz Ali along with actors Sharvari Wagh and Vedang Raina. However, Diljit’s absence from the event quickly became a major talking point online.

Diljit says he is in Texas for sold-out concert

During the event, a video message from Diljit was played for the audience, where the actor-singer explained that he was currently in Texas as part of his ongoing AURA World Tour 2026.

In the clip, Diljit said, “Hello folks, this is Diljit Dosanjh. Love and greetings to all. You are going to watch the trailer of Main Vaapas Aaunga, so enjoy it. I am in Texas, so I could not come. Tonight's show in Texas is sold out.”

Trailer of Imtiaz Ali’s partition drama unveiled

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Main Vaapas Aaunga is set against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan Partition and revolves around themes of love, longing, memory and belonging. The film stars Diljit Dosanjh alongside Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari Wagh and Vedang Raina.

The trailer hints at an emotional narrative spanning generations, with Vedang reportedly playing the younger version of Naseeruddin Shah’s character.

Diljit reunites with Imtiaz Ali after Chamkila

The film marks Diljit Dosanjh’s second collaboration with Imtiaz Ali after the critically acclaimed Amar Singh Chamkila. Like Chamkila, the music for Main Vaapas Aaunga has been composed by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics by Irshad Kamil.

Film set for June release

Main Vaapas Aaunga is scheduled to release in cinemas on June 12, 2026. Despite Diljit missing the trailer launch in person, his video appearance and playful message ensured fans remained excited for the upcoming romantic drama.
