Bigg Boss 17 is nearing its finale, and things are getting more and more exciting with every passing episode. Among the remaining eight contestants inside the house, Mannara Chopra is being considered a strong contender for the finals. Known for working in a couple of Telugu and Tamil films, Mannara, who is also recognised as the 'Chopra' sister, has managed to entertain fans with her personality inside the house. While fans know the actress by the name 'Mannara Chopra', not many know that it's not the first choice of her parents. Mannara was previously named 'Barbie Handa' and it was only on the advice of Priyanka Chopra that she changed it later.

However, why was it that Priyanka suggested Mannara change her name? The Zid actress herself revealed the same.

Earlier in a podcast, the Bigg Boss contestant shared, "It was during the screening of my film Zid when my cousin (Priyanka Chopra) suggested that I should change my name from Barbie Handa." Further elaborating on what made her choose 'Mannara', she mentioned being inspired by her sister Mitali's name.

"My sister's name is Mitali, which starts with M. So, she thought I should also have something that starts with M. And it is Mannara. It means something that shines. So, it's a nice, shiny name," the actress added.

She also went on to reveal how her family continues to affectionately call her 'Barbie' at home. It is because she used to look like a doll in her childhood.

Since Mannara entered the Bigg Boss house, she has been compared to her actress sisters, Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra. However, she also made it clear that she doesn't want to be compared to them and that she wants to build her own identity.

In the meantime, Mannara, along with housemates Munawar Faruqui, Abhishek Kumar, and Arun Mashettey, have reached the finale week. This happened after the nomination task, where the contestants were divided into two teams and were made to take part in a special torture task. While Vicky Jain and his team left no stone unturned, things worked in favour of Munawar's team.
