Bhoomi, Haseena Parkar, Newton box office collection: Sanjay Dutt-starrer leads on opening day

This week, box-offices across the country, saw three most-awaited Hindi films hit the screens along with some big Telugu and Hollywood movies.Sanjay Dutt-Aditi Rao Hydari starrer Bhoomi clashed with Shraddha Kapoor's Haseena Parkar. A relatively smaller (in terms of budget) film, Newton, starring Rajkummar Rao, also released this week.While all the three movies were backed by some genuine hard-hitting content, their performance wasn't that great at the ticket counters. According to film-trade analyst Taran Adarsh's tweet, Bhoomi made Rs 2.25 crore on its opening day.Adarsh also revealed the first-day collection of Newton (Rs 96 lakhs) and Matthew Vaughn's Hollywood film, Kingsman: The Golden Circle which earned Rs 3.15 crore in India. Apoorva Lakhia's Haseena Parkar, based on the life of Haseena, sister of the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, earned an estimated Rs 1.87 crore on its first day, as per Bollywood Hungama. Haseena Parkar stars Shraddha Kapoor in the role of the don's sister. It also stars Siddhanth Kapoor (Shraddha's brother) who plays Dawood Ibrahim in the film, and Ankur Bhatia.Bhoomi, directed by Omung Kumar, explores the relationship between a daughter, played by Hydari, and a father, portrayed by Dutt. The film, touted to be a revenge drama, also stars Sidhant Gupta, Sharad Kelkar and Shekhar Suman.Director Amit Masurkar's Newton is the story of Nutan Kumar, a small-time government clerk, who has been sent on election duty to the conflict-ridden Chattisgarh forests of India, in a village controlled by Naxalites. Boasting of a talented cast of the likes of Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Raghubir Yadav, Anjali Patil , Danish Hussain and Sanjay Mishra, the film has already been selected as this year's official entry at Oscars 2018.Kingsman: The Golden Circle is an action spy, comedy film that follows the story of an independent, international intelligence agency after their headquarters is demolished and the world is under threat. This time the Kingsman teams up with a US spy organisation called Statesman. The film has a huge star cast this time that includes Colin Firth, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Edward Holcroft and Sophie Cookson, Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Pedro Pascal, Elton John, Channing Tatum and Jeff Bridges.
