US President Donald Trump's political fundraising machine has built a campaign war chest of more than $400 million, giving Republicans a significant financial advantage as they prepare to defend their slim congressional majorities in the November midterm elections.

A filing with the US Federal Election Commission (FEC) showed that MAGA, the super political action committee aligned with Trump, ended June with more than $400 million in cash, up from about $300 million at the start of the year.

The fundraising haul is expected to strengthen Republican efforts in competitive House and Senate races, where control of Congress could hinge on a handful of closely contested seats.

Billionaire donors add to campaign coffers

The latest filing showed that MAGA attracted several high-profile donors in June.

Among them was NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman, who contributed $1 million to the committee.

Cryptocurrency entrepreneurs Tyler Winklevoss and Cameron Winklevoss each donated $10 million, with the filing indicating that the brothers liquidated bitcoin holdings to make the contributions.

The fresh inflows underscore Trump's continued ability to attract support from wealthy donors despite growing political headwinds ahead of the midterms.

Republicans seek to protect narrow majorities

Republicans currently hold narrow majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, making the November elections crucial for Trump's legislative agenda during the remainder of his term.

Political action committees such as MAGA can raise and spend unlimited sums to support or oppose candidates, provided they do not coordinate directly with campaigns.

The committee played a major role in the 2024 election cycle, spending nearly $377 million to back Trump's successful White House bid and support Republican candidates.

Political challenges remain

Despite the fundraising success, Trump enters the midterm campaign facing mounting political challenges.

His approval ratings have come under pressure in recent months amid public dissatisfaction over the US-Israeli war on Iran and persistently high energy prices, issues that Democrats are expected to highlight during the campaign.

Political analysts say the large financial reserve will allow MAGA to spend heavily on television advertising, digital outreach and voter mobilisation efforts in battleground states as Republicans seek to retain control of Congress.

With more than $400 million available months before Election Day, the Trump-aligned group is positioned to remain one of the most influential political spending organisations in the 2026 election cycle.
