India’s exports hit record $863 billion in FY26, services sector leads growth surge
Strong demand for IT and business services drives India’s export engine, with all four quarters posting record performances

India’s total exports reached an all-time high of $863.11 billion in the financial year 2025–26, marking a 4.59 per cent increase from $825.26 billion in the previous fiscal, according to data released by the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics and the Reserve Bank of India.
The achievement is notable not just for its scale but also for its consistency. For the first time in India’s trade history, each of the four quarters in FY26 recorded the highest-ever export performance, reflecting sustained global demand and improving competitiveness.
The services sector emerged as the clear growth driver. Services exports surged to a record $421.32 billion, up from $387.55 billion in FY25, registering a robust growth of 8.71 per cent. This expansion was largely fueled by rising global demand for India’s IT services, business solutions, and professional expertise.
India’s dominance in IT and knowledge-based services continues to strengthen its position as a global services powerhouse, even as merchandise exports face headwinds from volatile global trade conditions and rising imports.
The latest data highlighted a structural shift in India’s export profile, with services playing an increasingly central role in sustaining growth and buffering external sector risks.
