Upcoming BMW 5-series teased in new videos

The seventh generation of the BMW 5-series will be revealed tomorrow and just in time for the launch, the German carmaker has revealed some teaser videos for the new machine. There is not a lot of info given in the videos, but it does give a glimpse of the upcoming car.There won't be a huge difference in terms of styling, however the new mid-sized premium sedan will be bigger and will go high on tech. It will but weigh at least 100 kg less thanks to the adoption of lightweight aluminium, steel and carbon-fibre composites which was also seen on the 7 Series.The most high-end variant will be a plug-in hybrid version which will feature a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine with a 90kW electric motor to give churn out a combined power output of 245kW. The plug-in hybrid is said to initially have a pure-electric range of around 50km which will increase over a period of tweaks to around 100km. Expect the same ZF eight-speed transmission system which is available on the current generation as well as a multi-link rear suspension.The new 5-series is also expected to feature a semi-autonomous cruise control system which can steer, brake and change lanes. It will also come with BMW’s latest gesture-control command system, offering enhanced features built on top of the 7 Series system to reduce driving distractions. Other features expected to arrive are high-speed internet connection, a next-gen infotainment system with the ability to download apps to enhance the experience.
