Mercedes-Benz has announced a new E-Class Cabriolet, and this one's got more legroom

Driving an open-top convertible is a pleasure apart, but only if the weather is fine. Mercedes-Benz’ new E-Class Cabriolet is for those who have the luxury of both good weather and deep pockets.

This Cabriolet has a soft-top and features all-wheel drive transmission as well as a whole host of electronic accoutrements to waft you to your destination in the lap of luxury.

The fabric top itself is available in a variety of colours and is designed to reduce the sound of buffeting wind when up. The top can also be raised and lowered at speeds up to 50 kmph and takes only 20 seconds to fully open or close. The interior styling will be familiar with anyone who’s into luxury cars. The aforementioned electronic accoutrements include two 12.3-inch display (1920x720) or a combination of a 7-inch (1000x600) and 8.4-inch (960x540) displays. You also get the usual assortments of touch controls, multimedia system, steering wheel-mounted controls, voice control and more.

Mercedes’ own Airscarf neck-heating system and heated rear seats are also available. There’s even a fancy ambient lighting system. An electronically controlled Aircap system ensures that the interior remains free of buffeting air at high speeds even when the top is down.[caption id="attachment_365073" align="aligncenter" width="640"] Image: Mercedes-Benz[/caption]At 4.83 metres long and 1.86 metres wide, the vehicle is longer and wider than its predecessor. This allows for even more legroom in the rear.

A special 25th Anniversary Cabriolet is also being announced to celebrate the, well, 25th Anniversary of the first E-Class Cabriolet. This special edition car will include 20-inch, 5-spoke wheels, an open-pore elmwood trim, top of the line kit, a special fragrance for the car, illuminated door sill panels and other such niceties.

Mercedes hasn’t revealed any details of the car’s drivetrain or pricing and availability yet.
