McLaren's new 720S can hit 100kmph in just 2.9 seconds

McLaren announced its new road-monster at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show which will be replacing the 650S. The all new 720S marks the second generation of the company’s Super Series line.The 720S is in line with the company's latest design language and also features a new twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine. As the name suggests, it produces 720PS of power which 770Nm of torque churned out of a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. According to the car maker, the 720S is capable of going from 0-100kmph in just 2.9 seconds and 0-200kmph in 7.8 seconds with a top speed of 341kmph.The radiator intakes on the side of the car have been replaced by unique ‘double skin’ dihedral doors, which diverts air into the radiators to cool V8 engine sitting in the middle. The overall looks similar to McLaren's new age models dawning the P1 hypercar.The front wheels get 19-inch alloys while the rear gets 20-inch, both having carbon ceramic brakes which can bring the car from 200kmph to a standstill in 4.6 seconds.Other features include a carbon-fibre tub and a range of aluminium alloys used in the chassis and body panels, a new Proactive Chassis Control system, new suspension and a power-assisted electro-hydraulic steering rack.Moving inside, you will find a folding driver’s display which offers a Formula One-style display or a full-digital instrument cluster and a large infotainment system.
