Poland to get new prime minister today

According to a presidential aide, Polish President Andrzej Duda will make an announcement on Monday night regarding the appointment of a new prime minister following last month's election."President Andrzej Duda decided on the so-called first step (of appointing a government) following discussions and careful thought. The head of Duda's chancellery, Marcin Mastalerek, stated on Twitter that "the decision is final...," and that Duda was organising a broadcast speech for later on Monday.The Law and Justice (PiS) party which ruled in Poland for the last eight years won the October 15 election but lost its absolute majority and is unlikely to find a coalition partner.Three pro-European parties which have a majority in the parliament say they are ready to form a cabinet led by Civic Coalition leader Donald Tusk and have urged Duda not to delay his appointment.(With agency inputs)
