PM Modi congratulates Trump, American people on US' 250th Independence Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended greetings to US President Donald Trump and the American people on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the United States' Independence.
In a message posted on X, the Prime Minister highlighted the close ties between India and the US, describing the relationship as one rooted in shared democratic values and a commitment to global progress.
PM highlights shared democratic values
PM Modi said the India-US partnership extends beyond strategic cooperation and is built on common principles such as democracy, the rule of law and the potential of their people.
"On behalf of 1.4 billion Indians, I extend my warmest congratulations to President Trump and the people of the United States on the historic 250th anniversary of your Independence," he wrote.
He added that the shared belief in democracy and the rule of law has made the friendship between the two countries "a force for global good".
Wishes for stronger India-US partnership
The Prime Minister also expressed hope that the coming years would bring greater prosperity, peace and progress to the United States while taking India-US ties to new heights.
"May the next 250 years bring even greater prosperity, peace and progress for America and take the India-US partnership to new heights," PM Modi said.
US celebrates 250 years of Independence
The United States marked the historic milestone with nationwide celebrations, including parades, fireworks and commemorative events, marking 250 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
The anniversary has been described by US officials as one of the country's most significant national milestones. Celebrations are being held under the America250 initiative throughout the year, culminating in Independence Day events honouring the nation's founding, history and democratic institutions.
India-US ties have expanded across key sectors
India and the United States have significantly deepened their partnership over the past two decades, expanding cooperation in defence, trade, technology, energy and critical and emerging technologies.
The two countries also work closely through the Quad, alongside Japan and Australia, on issues related to regional security and maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific.
