Pakistan: Several Chinese killed as suicide attack strikes convoy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

A suicide bomber attacked a convoy of Chinese engineers in northwest Pakistan on Tuesday, killing five of them in the explosion.

The engineers were traveling from Islamabad to their camp in Dasu in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa when the suicide bomber crashed his vehicle full of explosives into their convoy, according to regional police chief Mohammad Ali Gandapur, who spoke to the media.

"Five Chinese nationals and their Pakistani driver were killed in the attack," Mohammad Ali Gandapur said.

There is a sizable dam at Dasu, and there have been previous attacks there. In 2021, a bus explosion claimed the lives of 13 persons, nine of them were Chinese citizens.

After arriving at the location, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police initiated relief efforts. According to Mohammad Ali Gandapur, the rest of the convoy was safe.
