PM Modi arrives in Paris for final leg of visit to attend tech summit with Macron

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday arrived in Paris for the final leg of his visit to France.

In Paris, Modi will attend the VivaTech Summit with President Emmanuel Macron and hold bilateral talks. He is also expected to address the Indian diaspora.

At the VivaTech Summit, Modi is expected to highlight India's growing innovation ecosystem and technological advancements. All India Radio reported that India will have the largest national pavilion at the summit, which has been described as Europe's largest technology and start-up event.

Upon arrival, Modi was greeted by members of the Indian community at his hotel.

"Reached Paris a short while ago to a warm welcome by the Indian diaspora. I am proud of their efforts in bringing India and France closer. The India-France partnership is vital for the progress of our planet," Modi said in a post on X after his arrival.

In the first leg of the visit, Modi and Macron inaugurated the 'Bharat Innovates' event, which was aimed at bringing together leading innovation start-ups and venture capital funds from India, France, and other countries. Notably, India and France are currently observing the 'India-France Year of Innovation'.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the 'Bharat Innovates' event as the signature event reinforcing the vibrant innovation partnership between the two countries.

In the first leg of the visit, Modi and Macron held bilateral talks in Nice. During the visit, they reviewed the full spectrum of the India-France bilateral relationship, which was elevated to a Special Global Strategic Partnership earlier this year, the MEA had said ahead of the visit.

In the second leg of the visit, Modi visited Slovakia and held talks with PM Robert Fico. During the visit, he was conferred the Order of the White Double Cross, First Class, the country's highest honour.

In the third leg of the visit, Modi attended the G7 Summit at Macron's invitation in Évian-les-Bains, France. He participated in expanded sessions and held bilateral talks on the sidelines with US President Donald Trump, European Council President António Costa, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Canadian PM Mark Carney, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
