Michael Moore has been working on a documentary on Donald Trump this whole time

Michael Moore will premiere a new film about Donald Trump, Michael Moore in TrumpLand on 18 October 2016 in New York City, Deadline reports. In addition to a New York and Los Angeles run this weekend, the documentary will also be available on iTunes.Michael Moore in TrumpLand is reportedly based on a one-man show Moore performed in Ohio earlier in October 2016."See the film Ohio Republicans tried to shut down. Oscar-winner Michael Moore dives right into hostile territory with his daring and hilarious one-man show, deep in the heart of TrumpLand in the weeks before the 2016 election," reads the synopsis.In late September 2016, Moore wrote on Facebook that he had organised a performance at the Midland Theater in Newark, Ohio, 'the heart of Trump Country.'But the performance was ultimately axed by the community board that oversees the theater.Moore's documentary on the Trump election came as a surprise as he tweeted late Monday, it's an #OctoberSurprise that comes unexpectedly three weeks before the 2016 presidential election.This is a surprisingly big move for Moore, who has stayed away from articulating his opinion on politics, after the very controversial release time of Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004). The film generated criticism and controversy after its release before the United States presidential election in 2004, which pitted Republican party candidate George W. Bush against Democratic Party candidate John Kerry.As early articles before the release of the film note, it was a highly critical view on the republican party nominee Bush and the Iraq war.Moore was quoted saying by The Guardian before the release of the film:"When you see the movie you will see things you have never seen before, you will learn things you have never known before. Half the movie is about Iraq - we were able to get film crews embedded with American troops without them knowing that it was Michael Moore. They are totally fucked."He is also quoted saying in the same article that he was happy with the response to the film because undecided voters 'weren't on the fence any more.'The controversial film created a commendable place for Moore as a documentary filmmaker and Fahrenheit 9/11 became the highest-grossing documentary of all time, taking in over US$200 million worldwide. But it also caused a lot of controversy.Moore has ironically been sitting on the fence himself since then, keeping mum about controversial political issues and finger pointing.Instead he choose to take on the American healthcare system by focusing on health insurance, pharmaceutical industries and their mismanagement in Sicko (2007) which earned him an Oscar nomination for best documentary feature.His next venture Capitalism: A Love Story (2009) looked at the financial crisis and the U.S. economy during the transition between the incoming Obama Administration and the outgoing Bush Administration. Where to Invade Next (2015) was his next destination where he plays the role of  an invader visits a host of nations to learn how the U.S. could improve its own prospects.But with Trump very close to winning the presidential election, we guess Moore couldn't sit on the fenc anymore and decided to take action. Maybe to help undecided voters make the right choice again.
