Gaza Conflict: Dutch PM invites Palestinian leader to Netherlands

Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the Palestinian Authority, has been invited to the Netherlands by outgoing Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte to discuss the state of affairs in Israel and the Palestinian territories, Rutte announced on X on Thursday.

Rutte claimed that while speaking with Abbas on the phone on Wednesday night, he gave the invitation.

"President Abbas of the Palestinian Authority has just been invited to visit the Netherlands at short notice to discuss current developments in Israel and the Palestinian Territories and the long-term perspective" , he stated.

"A private, secure state for the Palestinians next to a secure Israel" is the two-state solution that the Netherlands is dedicated to, Rutte continued.
