Baloch diaspora in Germany protests against Pakistan's atrocities in Balochistan, seeks global intervention

Baloch activists staged a protest in the German city of Bremen, accusing Pakistani authorities of escalating human rights abuses in Balochistan, including enforced disappearances, custodial killings and collective punishment.

Organised by the Baloch National Movement (BNM), the demonstration urged the international community and human rights organisations to intervene over the alleged crackdown.

Addressing the gathering, BNM leaders claimed that Pakistani security forces were carrying out widespread collective punishment against civilians in Balochistan.

According to the group, enforced disappearances and custodial killings have become routine, while homes are being demolished and families displaced during military operations.

The organisation also alleged that families of political activists continue to face intimidation, with relatives reportedly subjected to psychological, financial and social hardship.

'Families live in constant fear'

The BNM said enforced disappearances have caused long-term trauma for affected families.

It claimed that parents continue to wait for news of missing relatives, while children grow up in fear and uncertainty. The organisation further alleged that, in some cases, families later receive the bodies of relatives who were allegedly killed in custody.

Fresh allegations from Gwadar

The group alleged that Pakistani security forces recently carried out raids in Panwan village and nearby areas of Gwadar district.

According to the BNM, more than 60 people were allegedly subjected to enforced disappearance during the operations, while five of them were later killed in custody and their bodies dumped. These claims have not been independently verified.

The organisation also alleged that Panwan has been repeatedly targeted in recent years, with several young men disappearing for extended periods.

Calls for international intervention

The BNM described Balochistan as a "media black hole", alleging that limited international coverage has allowed human rights violations to continue without scrutiny.

It also claimed that military operations along the Gwadar coast are linked not only to counter-insurgency efforts but also to attempts to tighten control over coastal trade and smuggling routes.

Concluding the protest, the organisation appealed to neighbouring countries, international organisations and human rights groups to take notice of what it described as the worsening situation in Balochistan and press for accountability.
