Elon Musk confirms X will have two new tiers of Premium subscriptions, top tier to be completely ad-free

Elon Musk, the CTO of X took to the platform and announced the imminent launch of two new tiers for the X Premium subscription, a service that was previously known as Twitter Blue.According to Musk's tweet, one of these tiers will be offered at a lower cost and will provide users with access to all features while retaining the display of advertisements.The other tier will be priced higher but promises an ad-free experience for subscribers. However, specific details regarding the pricing of these new subscription tiers and their official launch date were not disclosed.Rumours from earlier this month, had suggested that X CEO Linda Yaccarino had met with the platform's lenders earlier in the month to test three different tiers of its subscription service.With this, X is likely to have a total of three tiers of Premium services in certain countries.The most basic tier will have all the features of Premium, and show users ads as it has been doing, meaning that there would be no reduction in ads whatsoever, The mid-level tier will also have all the features, but won’t show as many ads, only some. The top tier subscription will have all the features, plus no ads.Specific details regarding the pricing of these new Premium subscriptions are yet to be disclosed. X’s current form of revenue sharing follows a model in which creators get based on the ads that users see around their content.In a recent development this week, X also revealed its plans to test an additional subscription model. Under this new model, users must pay an annual fee of $1 to access basic features. This subscription referred to as "Not A Bot," will involve charges for actions such as liking posts, reposting content, quoting other users' posts, and bookmarking posts when using the platform's web version.The introduction of this new subscription model serves the purpose of combating bots and spammers on the platform, as X explained. The fee for "Not A Bot" will vary depending on the user's location and currency exchange rates.
