Sony set to launch a new smart watch this week: report

Sony is all set to launch a smart watch at the Mobile Asia Expo which begins in Shanghai on 26 June. Sony's Xperia twitter handle has been tweeting out various hints about the device.You can check out some of the tweets below. Sony had launched the world's first ‘smart’ watch in 2007, the MN2SW which was priced at $100.

 According to a report on CNET Sony's new watch will be water-proof, support NFC, Bluetooth and will run Android.[caption id="attachment_900379" align="alignleft" width="380"]

Image via Sony Xperia's Twitter handle.[/caption]The report states, "It (Sony's smart watch) will run a version of Android (as the current version does), will feature a capacitive touch screen, and is said to have a three-icon layout below the screen (similar to Xperia smartphones)."The smart watch market is likely to heat up this year as there have been reports that Apple, Google, LG and Microsoft are all working on their very own version of smart watches.Sony is also expected to launch a 6.44-inch phablet device, the Xperia Z Ultra at the event.
