Xiaomi to sell 60,000 Redmi 1s units on Flipkart today

Amidst rumours of Xiaomi phones sending private data to Chinese servers and warnings by Indian authorities, the company has once again opened the counter for its budget smartphone Redmi 1s. There will be 60,000 Redmi 1s smartphones going on sale on Flipkart at 2PM today, following its trend of Tuesday flash sales.Xiaomi is a fast-growing device manufacturer that is known for organising weekly flash sales with limited devices. Their products are often a lot cheaper than the competition. At a budget price of Rs 5,999, the Redmi 1s sports a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display, comes with 16GB of onboard storage and a microSD card slot that further expands it up to 64GB. It is fuelled by a 2000mAh battery and runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 chipset. There’s an 8MP rear shooter and a 1.6MP front camera.The Redmi 1S is Xiaomi’s second smartphone to sell in India, following the successful Mi 3. Just like the Mi 3, it comes with high-end specs at an economical price tag. It also follows a similar marketing strategy, where users have to register with Flipkart to participate in the sale before being able to place an order.
