Vine and Flipboard apps will be coming to Lumia phones: Nokia

Nokia yesterday launched a new smartphone, the Lumia 1020 with a 41-megapixel smartphone. The company also announced that the Windows Phone platform would be getting the popular Twitter app for video, Vine.

Vine which was first launched on iOS had recently launched an Android version of the app as well. The video app currently has over 13 million active users.

Nokia also confirmed that the Flipboard, the popular news aggregating app would be launching an application specifically for Nokia's Lumia devices that run Windows Phone 8 OS.

Path, which is another popular application for personal networking that helps users connect with friends and family will also launch an application for the Windows Phone platform.

Nokia confirmed that the Path app would come with 50 free and premium filter effects to share photos; along with high resolution & deep zoom imaging capabilities as well.

Other apps on the list include: Hipstamatic, Path, Vyclone, SNAPCAM, Panagraph, Yelp, CNN and Foursquare.

Nokia's announcement is good news as it highlights that key app developers are taking the Windows Phone 8 devices seriously. The addition of these apps should help strengthen the app ecosystem for Windows Phone 8 which many say will be key to determining its success.
