Unicode 10 officially releases adding 8,518 new characters

The Unicode 10 has officially been announced on 20 June 2017, and it comes with a lot more emojis for the users. The release states that a total of 56 new emojis, a set of Typicon marks and symbols, and a Bitcoin sign have been added to the directory bringing it up to a grand total of 136,690 characters. It also adds four new scripts giving it a grand total of 139 scripts.New figures include a vampire, a sandwich, broccoli, coconut, fairy, mage, and many more. The total number of characters added according to the Unicode Consortium is 8,518 characters added by the Unicode 10.0.It is still unclear when the Unicode 10 will make an appearance on the Apple devices but this is predicted to be sometime later this year or early next year as the release of Unicode 10 is seemingly too late for its inclusion in iOS 11 in it. However, Apple may play out the emojis in the next iOS 11.1 or 11.2 update so as to entice users for an upgrade.Just last summer Unicode 9 was announced and gave users 72 emojis in including bacon, selfie, and a clown face. A majority of the Unicode 9.0 emoji made their way to iOS with iOS 10.2. So it should be expected that Apple will follow the same trend.
