Toyota C-HR SUV gets five-star rating for Euro NCAP crash tests

While Toyota is wondering whether to launch its all new midsize SUV C-HR in India next year, the same vehicle has just received a five-star safety rating by Euro NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme).Joined by Audi Q5 ,Citroën C3 , the Ford Ka + and the Land Rover Discovery , the Toyota C-HR was subjected to terrible crash tests, but managed to get the maximum five-star rating on all tests.According to the assessment, the Toyota C-HR achieved 95 percent in terms of protection for adults, 77 percent for protection of children, 76 percent for pedestrians and 78 percent for its various safety equipment. It did well in lateral impact and rear impact tests and its automatic emergency braking system was also highlighted by Euro NCAP.Karl Schlicht, executive vice president of Toyota Motor Europe said, “These very good results, especially for active safety, prove that the Toyota C-HR has much more to offer than a spectacular style. Our wish was to make the Toyota C-HR both fun and safe to drive."Toyota is expected to bring its Lexus brand to India this month and considering the high number of compact SUVs pouring into the market, Toyota could bring C-HR to India. Toyota currently sells the Fortuner SUV and the high-end Land Cruiser range in India. Adding the C-HR to its portfolio would make a nice addition and the company could give some heavy competition to Hyundai, Ford and others.
