Sony launches 7.7mm-thin phablet Xperia T3 for Rs 27,990

Sony has launched the mid-range Xperia T3 in India and it will be available in retail starting Monday, July 28. The phone has been priced at Rs 27,990 officially, though expect retail prices to vary. The T3 is distinct looking. It features a stainless steel frame around the sides, which immediately sets it apart from other mid-range Sony phones, which normally feature matte plastic on the sides. The phone is a mere 7.7mm thick, but does not support 4G network in India. Sony says many of its industry-leading technologies have been packed into an affordable package, though there's no dearth of choice these days for smartphone buyers. The Xperia T3 is very much a phablet, thanks to the large 5.3-inch display with 720P resolution. The display is of the Triluminos variety, with Sony's mobile Bravia Engine 2 enhancing colours for some apps and with a pixel density of 277ppi, which is quite good given the size of the phone.  The Xperia T3 is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, clocked at 1.4GHz, and features 1GB RAM, which should be more than enough considering, the T3 features Android 4.4 KitKat. On the back is an 8-megapixel Sony Exmor RS autofocus camera with LED flash. Sony has packed in all the usual suspects for the camera including HDR mode, scene detection, face recognition, red-eye reduction, Panorama, burst mode etc. It also houses a 1.1-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. [caption id="attachment_225085" align="alignnone" width="640"] A sleek looking mid-ranger[/caption] The Xperia T3 comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, and you can add to that via microSD card (up to 32GB). It supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, GPRS/ EDGE, DLNA, NFC, Micro-USB, LTE and 3G connectivity options. The 2500mAh battery is rated for up to 13 hours of talk time and 688 hours of standby time.
