Seagate Launches 3TB Barracuda XT Drive

Packaged software will fix 2 TB issue with older hardware and operating systems.

Seagate has started shipping their new 3 TB Barracuda XT hard drives into the market. The new 3 TB drive shouldn’t have problems with systems that had a 2.1 TB drive limitation. There were issues were drives above 2TB could not be used with these PCs. Old PC BIOS and operating systems such as Windows XP had this limitation.More space than you'll need, for the time being

More space than you'll need, for the time being

The Barracuda XT comes with a Seagate DiscWizard which fixes the problem and allows users to use the drive as usual. The free software is available for download from their site. The new 7200 rpm Barracuda drive comes with a 64 MB cache and is SATA 3 compatible.
