Samsung takes Apple mockery from TV commercials to airport power outlets

When it comes to smartphone wars, Samsung and Apple have to be in the limelight. Either of the two can't seem to miss a single opportunity of taking a dig at each other. In yet another attempt at tarnishing Apple's image, Samsung has put its "wall-hugger" message next to power outlets at major airports, where Apple users apparently charge their phones.

In one of Samsung's earlier campaigns, it called iPhone users 'wall-huggers' as the handset's poor battery life always keeps them close to power outlets. Now, Samsung has chosen to rub it in by buying the ad space around power outlets. According to Apple Insider, the Samsung ad reads "So you have the power to be anywhere but here," - an obvious dig at Apple's recent TV commercials that end with the tagline, "You're more powerful than you think."

The ad boasts of the Galaxy S5's "Ultra Power Saving Mode," which adjusts screen brightness, turns off Bluetooth, cellular data and Wi-Fi and restricts the number of in-use apps.

Apple's iPhone doesn't exactly have the battery life to be proud of compared with rivals smartphones by Samsung and HTC. One of the key reasons being the iPhone's rather compact size, which leaves little space for accommodating huge batteries. However, mud-slinging between the two smartphone giants dates back to 2011 when Apple accused Samsung of stealing its patent design. The hostility continued since then, with a two-year patent battle and clever ads pitching how one is better than the other. Expect more potshots to follow, as Apple and Samsung gear towards the launch their flagship smartphones for 2014.
