Samsung privately showcased its foldable smartphone at CES 2018; expected to be launched next year

The panel for this type of phone will be released this year. The smartphone is expected to arrive in 2019. The company also displayed the foldable smartphone in 2017, but the one displayed at the CES 2018 is an upgraded version of the previously shown smartphone.Due to the foldable design, there is expected to be a slight air-gap between the two flaps. Think of it as the hinge of the Microsoft Surface Book. According to etnews, a Korean site, the degree of bending is 0.1 mm (1R). Here 1R means the degree of the curvature of a circle with a radius of 1 mm. The lower the curvature of the bent portion, the thinner the smartphone is. The outward bending is a lot more gradual with a 5R degree of bending.GSMArena states that Samsung feels that the design is still not completely refined does suffer from durability issues.Samsung also launched 7 Spin, a 2-in-1 notebook, at CES 2018. The laptop comes with 8th generation Intel Core i5 processor and 256 GB of SSD storage. The company also unveiled first set of components for autonomous driving and infotainment solutions with Harman International at the event.Samsung mobile chief DJ Koh confirmed that the next Galaxy series flagship will be launched at MCW 2018. The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are expected to feature a bezel-less display and expected to come with 12 MP dual-aperture rear camera, 4 GB RAM and Exynos 9810 SoC.
