Samsung launches Gear S3 smartwatches with wireless charging for Rs 28,500

Samsung India launched the Samsung Gear S3, the third generation Smartwatch running on its Tizen-based wearable platform.The Samsung Gear S3 boasts of IP68 water resistance with a four-day battery backup along with built-in speakers, GPS and a dedicated app store for apps. The company has launched two variants of the device, which are the Gear S3 Frontier and Gear S3 Classic.The Gear S3 sports a 1.3-inch Circular Super AMOLED display with an effective resolution of 360x360 (278ppi). The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass SR+. The Smartwatch is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor, 768MB of RAM and 4GB of in-built storage. You also get Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS for connectivity.Manu Sharma, Vice President for Mobile Business, Samsung India adds, “With the Gear S3, we continue to build on our wearables heritage of offering diverse choices to enhance consumers’ unique lifestyles”.He further goes on to add “Now with the new Gear S3, we expand our Gear collection and introduce not only a great smartwatch, but a great watch. With smart capabilities and sophisticated, elegant design, the Gear S3 marks a significant addition to our smartwatch portfolio.”The devices will retail for Rs 28,500 on 18 January 2017.
