Samsung Galaxy S5 receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow update

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be delighted to know that the Korean electronics giant is finally rolling out its Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. For now only the handsets in Korea have begun to receive the update so it will take some time for the same to arrive elsewhere.The same was reported by Sammobile who claims that the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update is currently only rolling out to Galaxy S5 variants that run on LG Uplus network. The handsets in question are not locked to the carrier, but are unlocked variants of the Galaxy S5 (SM-G900L).What the update brings is the latest version of Google's open-source operating system with the new features that come with the Android 6.0 update such as Dose and enhanced app permissions. Coming from Samsung, this would also include a number of bug-fixes, stability improvements and speed optimisations that should bring the ageing handset up to speed.The update is available as an OTA and is said to be rolling only for LG Uplus network users for now. There are no details as to when the update will arrive for owners in India. The firmware update comes shortly after the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge received their respective Marshmallow updates.
