It was just last month that the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) announced to deploy Microsoft’s Live@edu, and became Micrososft’s biggest client by covering its institutions across the nation. It also planned to introduce Office 365 when it is made available later this year, providing access to Microsoft Exchange Online e-mail and calendar, Microsoft SharePoint Online, Microsoft Lync Online and Microsoft Office Professional. Now, Microsoft’s Live@edu has been adopted by reputed Indian schools, like Delhi Public School, American School of Bombay, KR Mangalam school to enhance communication and collaboration and provide superior education with collaborative learning tools.Microsoft Live@edu is a suite of communication and collaboration tools for students, faculty, staff and alumni, which enables them to access Microsoft Office Outlook Live for e-mail, Microsoft Office Live Workspace for document sharing, Windows Live Messenger for instant messaging, and Windows Live SkyDrive for 25GB of online data storage.Making technology accessible to all..

Live@Edu for Indian schools....

It is encouraging to see schools adopting and promoting a technology-enhanced environment. Microsoft Live@edu simplifies online collaboration, increases productivity with its ability to participate in online tutorials, collaborate on assignments, interacting with peers and faculty, and build lifelong relationships with their educational institution. We have a huge base of mailboxes activated across schools and colleges in the country,” said Tarun Malik, Director, Product Marketing, Microsoft India.Microsoft’s cloud-based e-mail has been chosen over Google after evaluating several aspects. “The cost of deploying a school wide messaging solution, which would cover over 5,017 students, 220 teachers, and 52 administrators would not have been feasible just from the sheer cost of acquisition and maintenance,” explains Mr. M.I.Hussain, Principal, DPS Mathura Road. “However, Live@edu brings the school at par with global institutions at no extra cost.”With the popularity and convenience of cloud, it comes across as a secure solution to deal with and manage the highly critical data. It is a cross platform, cloud-based service and allows students to effortlessly access and stay updated with the latest information on campus and also off campus.
