A sequel to developer Human Heads’ topsy-turvy first person shooter Prey was announced nearly two years ago. And then it just faded away from memory. Today Bethesda has announced a 2012 release date for Prey 2 that’ll be available on the Xbox360, PS3 and PC.

Here’s what project lead, Chris Rhinehart had to say on the matter, "We are thrilled to be working with Bethesda on Prey 2. Prey 2 will provide gamers the opportunity to explore a new facet of the Prey universe, one that offers fast-paced action in an open, alien world. We're excited to show gamers the title we have been working on and hope they will be as excited by this title as we are."

Colour me very excited. After being stuck in development hell for nearly eight years, Prey was a highly linear yet enjoyable shooter that had players fighting a legion of hostile aliens to save their love. Now that the action’s moving to an alien planet, I’m pretty stoked at the possibilities this can bring to the table, especially when you combine it with the disorienting gameplay this game became famous for.

Nash, as he prefers being called, woke up to the wonders of gaming rather late but don't bring that up around him. It's a touchy subject. A self confessed Battlefield veteran, Nash spent a good part of 2010 on the Steam Battlefield - with Bad Company (see what we did there?). He has a zero tolerance policy towards RTS games but is currently showing an interest by picking up and moving people - who he refers to as units - in the office. Thank God he's not that enthusiastic about Angry Birds or we'd be seeing women flying all over the place. Bali... Bali, put the receptionist down now.
