On video: Gionee Elife E7 Mini's 13MP rotating camera in action

Along with the massive Elife E7, Gionee had a smaller surprise for us. Even though at 4.7 inches, the display on the E7 Mini is still quite large, it pales in front of the 5.5-inch display of the elder sibling. While the smartphones share a name, they couldn’t be more different than each other. The E7 Mini’s standout feature is that rotating camera module. Check out our hands-on video to see how it works. The phone does remind one of the Oppo N1 thanks to the rotating camera, but under the hood, this was the first phone in India announced with an octa-core processor by MediaTek. At a price tag of under Rs 20,000, the E7 Mini could very well give the likes of Micromax Canvas Turbo, Nexus 4, Sony Xperia C and Samsung Galaxy Grand a fight in the market. We are impressed by what Gionee has done with the build quality of the phone and the finish, even though we wish it weren’t so glossy. Overall, the E7 Mini looks like a formidable mid-range package, with enough unique features to set it apart from generic low-cost Indian branded phones.
