Now, Sony's Subsidiary Hacked

It has not been long since Sony resumed its PSN services that were down and out for over a month following the massive hack attack that plagiarized Sony’s popular gaming service.

Latest reports indicate a data intrusion in one of Sony’s subsidiaries, So-net Entertainment Corp. The breach has raised the fears over data security, yet again. Post a host of complaints that their customers had been making. According to a report in Wall Street Journal, the intrusion occurred in the customer rewards site, and the redeemable gift points of the customers worth $1,225 were compromised with. Analysts believe this intrusion to be very similar to the PSN attack, only this time the modus operandi was completely different.

Over 10,000 attempts in varying capacities were made by the intruders to gain access to the customers reward points, which can then be exchanged for Sony products and online currency using the same IP address.  However, Sony adds that there isn’t any proof of any personal data like names, addresses, phone numbers, etc were accessed.
