Downloading updates for your EA games is set to become a cash-free job. This is after EA recently announced that it is on the move to scrap the online pass system that prompted for the payment of a certain sum of money when someone wanted to download an update for the game.

The online pass is set to become a thing of the past soon

The price changes were noticed by NeoGAF, a discussion forum for games. This means that users can download content that would cost between $10 and $15, if this move was not initiated by the company. Interestingly, the fans of the third-person action video game McGee's Alice could be in for more, as the original version of the game can now be downloaded for free.

“We listened to the feedback from players, and decided to do away with Online Pass. We hope that eliminating Online Pass will allow more people to play and enjoy EA games for a long time to come.” said the official statement by EA as the reason behind taking such a step.

However, the passes haven't received a similar price cut on the PlayStation Network. It is believed that the change will be effective on this network in the coming days.
