After the Moto X, it is now Motorola's most affordable smartphone that is getting a big update. According to a report from Android Police, Motorola has started rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for its budget 2nd Generation Moto E smartphone. The update according to the same source is reaching some users in India and is supposed to deliver better battery life among other things. The key to this is the Doze feature that puts the processor into a deep sleep conserving battery life. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware update comes as an Over the Air (OTA) update and is 454MB in size. Some of the new features such as App Standby helps to reduce the drain of the smartphone by  putting the seldom-used apps into a reduced activity state. With App Links, one can decide what the right action is for each of your apps when you tap a web link. Android Marshmallow also enables the smartphone’s SDcard to fully extend device internal storage rather than just being used for media files. With Do Not Disturb, you can now easily configure interruptions by tapping the Do Not Disturb button in the quick settings panel. Also available with the new update is Google Now on Tap. It is an instant search feature which debuted with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is indeed the highlighted feature of the update. Pressing down on the home button activates the search feature that will show up relevant information and apps depending on the conversations or text that appears on the screen. It is recommended that users connect their Moto E to a power source while downloading and installing the update.
