Microsoft to Patent Detachable, Dual-Screen Mobile Device

Keeping oneself in the heart of the competition seems to be the latest motto of all major technological brands today, or so it seems. Every brand worth its salt, out there is keen on having the most innovative, and revenue-generating patents to its name.

According to a patent application filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, software giant, Microsoft is in the plans of launching, what is being touted as the world’s first dual screen mobile device. Ok! May not be the first, but how about a detachable dual screen mobile device. Well, now! That’s a first. Microsoft, as per the patent application would in the coming months roll out its detachable dual screen mobile device, which will ‘operate as a mobile phone handset’. Users can then attach the two screens as per their desire.

Both the screens, when detached can still communicate. Also, the dual screen format will operational, irrespective of the phone being opened, closed, or detached. In the video embedded below, one can see the impressive nature of Microsoft’s plans. The dual screen format can also be used as a remote control for Microsoft’s gaming console, and also have the ability to the use either of the displays for speaking into, and the other as a video chat screen.

Still in the labs, Microsoft’s unnamed prodigy is sure going to be a trendsetter, or so we hope.
